Frequently Asked Questions

Everyone has questions, especially when a new idea is presented. An online conference is a new idea – but with a proven track record for powerful community, rich learning experiences and ongoing impact.

Show Frequently Asked Questions

How will this help my local church?

If you didn’t ask this question, we would be offended! The Conference is designed to fulfill your local church’s worship training needs. We can’t show little fingers exactly how to play (we try in Clinics and MusicLabs!), but we have built a world into which all of your leaders and musicians can plug in, and grow through a set program. This will run in the background, training your leaders while you sleep.

That’s the beauty of it. We never stop offering training, and your crew can be influenced by some of the greatest hearts, and most skilled leaders, in worship today.

The cost is so inexpensive – it feels too good to be true.

Thanks for saying that – it is true, and people are telling us that all the time. If our mandate was to make big money, we wouldn’t be doing this. Our overhead is kept low by offering everything online, and by employing just two people – who draw on many networks and friendships from our years of experience.

We know that, in a recession, cash is hard to come by for churches, even if it will be a timeless investment in their leaders. We needed to change our pricing to serve that challenge. Your ongoing quarterly membership helps us to count on resources to keep us going.

Can our church actually contribute to the international Learning Community?

Absolutely; involvement is the key. Participate in Groups on the Campus, bring up Forum topics, and give us your best articles and materials up there for others to comment on. Then, get involved in the Courses and Breakouts, intermingling with the rest of the Conference folks. You will lift others, as your team is lifted by others. That’s the way it works.

How do you handle the different perspectives of so many denominations and styles?

Another fine question. Dan Wilt, M.Min. is a “studied practitioner” – meaning he’s a worship leader/artist/writer who knows enough about theology, worship history and church worship needs to be lovingly dangerous. This enables him to effectively “pastor” our community as a Learning Community Director, calling us to benevolent conversations and humble approaches in all areas of worship practice and study.

He has been a worship leader, senior pastor, recording artist, musician, professor and resourcer, fulfilling many of the roles needed to support a local worship ministry. So, he brings some ability to guide us along in our learning together.

Because we’re primarily concerned about the formation of creative leaders, the theological minutiae is not the point of our life together. We serve one another, as we learn together.

Choices like N.T. Wright, Robert Webber and Richard Foster and others are focused on the areas of their wisdom that most widely serve the worship understanding of the 21st century church. We don’t focus on the differences – but on the shared worship life we have as God’s people.

What do you normally eat for breakfast?

Well, the writer of these FAQs usually has two eggs over-easy, half an English muffin, and a glass of water for brekky. You? Take it to the Cafe to further this chat.
